Rachel has many years experience in the equine world. Rachel was introduced to horses at a young age of about 7 and rode her aunt's horse Tammy. And to this day, still owns and takes of Tammy's offspring, Sparky, who was born in 1992.
Her equestrian journey and passion for these animals led her to work at an equestrian establishment from the age of 17. She began training for BHS qualifications however during this time she realised it was not what exactly what she wanted. Something deeper and more meaningful could be learnt. In 2002 Rachel discovered Monty Roberts and found training courses that opened her eyes to a different approach. After some years of training and developing, she gained many certificates including The Monty Roberts Certificate of Horsemanship.
Rachel started a career of helping people with thier horses from a young adult, rode dressage horses and stallions in Spain on a professional yard, owned a handful of own horses over the years and competed in some showjumping and dressage.
Dressage is the main interest now and having ambitions to still compete at advanced levels. But also believes basic training and flatwork schooling is great for development, health, agility and fitness of a horse. As well as building great communication between horse and rider.
Rachel has dealt with many different horse issues over many years and helped people. From young horses to older horses, from inhand and groundwork to ridden schooling and hacking, from little ponies to a huge 18hh shire ....
Natural horsemanship, or better said, Good Horsemanship. To me, how well we understand and communicate with your fellow horse. The level of respect and trust between human and horse. The art, the ability, skill and manner of someone with a horse.
I do not train horses to do circus tricks, trick training or play games. My job is to help people have a nice, calm horse/pony that is easy to look after, to ride and a pleasure to be around. As well as conquering any horsey hiccups on the way and train them to behave, have manners, be educated for great communication between human and equine, and for them to live contentedly in our humanized world by 'not so traditional' methods
I believe the foundation of good horsemanship is trust, partnership, respect and compassion.
